967 BC to 943 BC, about 24 years · Third Intermediate Period

Modern phonetic rendering, not a copy of an inscription

Psusennes II was the seventh and final king of the Twenty-first Dynasty. He reigned about 967 to 943 BC, with dates uncertain by about five years. He was the son of Pinedjem II and Isetemkheb D, High Priests of Amun, and is widely equated with the southern high priest of the same name, representing a temporary reunion of northern and southern authority under one figure. His daughter, Maatkare B, married the son of Shoshenq I, facilitating a smooth transition to the next dynasty.

Very few monuments survive from his twenty-four-year reign. His tomb has never been located, although some items bearing his name were found within the royal cache and burials at Tanis. Scholars know Psusennes II through inscriptions at Karnak, a block found at Abydos, and references preserved in contemporary genealogical records.
