Modern phonetic rendering, not a copy of an inscription

Amenemnisu was the second king of the Twenty-first Dynasty. He reigned about 1051 to 1047 BC, with dates uncertain by about five years, succeeding Smendes I and preceding Psusennes I. Like other monarchs of this period, he ruled northern Egypt from the Delta capital of Tanis while Upper Egypt remained under the autonomous sway of the High Priests of Amun.

Very little is known about his family background or political achievements. His brief four-year reign left minimal physical evidence, and his tomb has never been located. Scholars know of his existence primarily through Manetho's historical king lists and a gold bow-cap bearing his royal cartouche discovered within the royal necropolis at Tanis.
