Nepherites II
Pl. 186 · also Nefaarud II
380 BC to 380 BC · Late Period
Nepherites II was the son of Hakor and the final ruler of the Twenty-Ninth Dynasty, ruling from the Delta city of Mendes. He held power briefly in 380 BC, with his dates uncertain by about a year. Classical sources record that his reign lasted only a few months before he was overthrown by Nectanebo I, the founder of the Thirtieth Dynasty.
Due to the extreme brevity of his time on the throne, Nepherites II left no known monuments or major inscriptions. No royal tomb or burial equipment belonging to him has survived. Scholars know of his existence primarily through ancient chronologies and king lists rather than physical monuments from his own lifetime.
